Beautiful 17 century building sympathetically decorated to reflect the period. Great host good food good wine in abundance
Served by the owner herself. There was a roaring fire which added to the period feel. If your desire is for high tech stainless steel and glass this is not for you. Think 4 poster beds and manual wooden shutters complete with creaking floorboard. Yet clean and functional. Opening the shutters to the sight of oranges and lemons nodding in the wind was magical!
Breakfast was a feast. Very enjoyable. Not a hot one but there was enough of a selection to please us all
We had the freedom to wonder the vast property grounds unrestricted. The gardens are poised to burst into blooms of apple pears plums and figs soon.

Exceptional breakfast, wine cellar and spa facilities. Would have been great to have more communal quiet spaces, perhaps a library or smoking room to play board games etc.

Geographically Lamego is in a hollow.
Geographically Lamego is in a hollow. As I approached from the south in full sun in December you could see Lamego covered in mist, cold damp mist. It lasted for my 3 day stay and the sun was only visible as I left and approached the Duro River!
The accommodation was dia and the highlight was the cheerful taxi driver to took me out!!
Limited walking as two routes were terminated by loose snarling dogs!

Very pretty city, could have spent more time just hanging out and getting to know the city and way of life. If you are there just to walk to the top of the steps to see the cathedral, then one day is sufficient.

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the amazing view, the park like garden, the heated indoor swimming pool. The breakfast was great so was our room which was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the view from our private terrace was amazing.
There was no restaurant on site so that meant having to drive into Lamego for dinner. We had a car so that didn’t bother us.
We would definitely stay again.

Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios.
Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. Beautiful church built on top of a hill overlooking Lamego. Multiple terraces adorned with traditional Portuguese blue and white tiles lead up and down the property. One of the most beautiful places I have been to. I am surprised that the church is not talked about more often as a major attraction in the Duoro Valley.

We really enjoyed walking and visiting the towers, castles and churches it was like a travel back in time. Also because of the proximity we could take a boat tour in the Douro river. We drove from Lamego to Peso da Régua then by train to Pinhão to finish with a 2hrs boat tour.
Another unique experience was to drive on the N222. According to Avis who has crowned Portugal's N-222 as 'the road that offers the best driving experience in the world. From Peso da Régua to Pinhão.
With plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars food and drinks are there for you to choose. Is worth to know that after 22:00 most restaurants are closed but there are some like "O Cortelheiro" na rua das Cortes is open until 2:00am and you can have much more than a sandwiche.
Sofia welcomed us as we drove onto the property. All the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The house we stayed in was perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen with open hearth was very unique and added fun to our night. The balcony had a beautiful view. The property has a wine museum and tastings available. Lamego was a short drive away with dining. Breakfast was nicely laid out and was very substantial with lots of options and local fair. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Probably the most impressive hotel we've stayed in when considered as a package (building, gardens, views, staff, facilities, food, activities, etc). It doesn't come cheap, but in our opinion absolutely worth it as a special treat. The activity programme was excellent (cooking classes, wine tours, spa treatments), the staff has been trained to the highest standard (many in nearby Lamego) and the vineyard/river setting was extremely relaxing. Very special
The family that hosted us here was so kind, giving us tips on the Douro, making us coffee in the morning and being so attentive to everything we needed.
The location was great, near the centre of Lamego and with easy access to other parts of the Douro valley.
There was plenty of parking, the pool was lovely and we felt like we spent great mornings and evenings enjoying the garden.
The cleanliness and the friendly staff that made us feel comfortable the second we stepped inside.
The pool area with the view on the wineries which we can’t have in hotels located in the city center.
The size of the rooms is impressive for Europe!
Lamego is an excellent base to discover Douro as it’s close to many hikes, Quinta and national parks.
Beautifully appointed apartments with every amenity of home - cookware, dishes, dishwasher. Incredibly comfortable beds and great shower pressure. Photos are completely accurate, and the apartments are even more comfortable than pictured. My family and I loved our time in Lamego in no small part owed to how O Cantinho do Colégio felt like home.
We were blown away by our stay at Lamego Hotel & Life; from our initial warm welcome at reception, to the breakfast, the spa, the pool, the food - everything was fantastic. We felt thoroughly pampered and relaxed after our 2 nights and desperately didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The location was perfect…. quiet and picturesque, just outside of Lamego and close to the Duro river and wine region. The staff were friendly, helpful in suggesting restaurants, and most accommodating to our requests. The breakfast was wonderful and beautifully served. The view absolutely gorgeous and the wine superb.
Modern hotel with stunning views from every room, across the Douro River valley. Parking outside the door. Great meals and (mostly) very friendly, helpful staff. We enjoyed it so much, we extended our stay by a day. It was fun having a pool table to while away a rainy day.
Spectacular rooms(superior) and views...wonderful living room kitchen in shared new quarters. All brand new, beautiful architecture and design overlooking vineyards. Only 20 min to Duoro River in Lamego. We loved it. Nice pool. Would definitely return.
We are very grateful to the owner Zilda for her exceptional hospitality. The house ls located in historical center of Lamego and beautifully renovated. The view from rooftop terrace is fantastic as well as the breakfast. Thank you, Zilda!
The hotel is in a wonderful position way up in the hills overlooking the Douro. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool with a view. The breakfast was very good and plentiful with lovely fresh fruit.
The staff, Anoo and Sapana, 2 Nepalese girls, were sweet and unfailingly helpful. The hotel and our room overlooked the Douro river. The grounds were extensive with many patios that viewed the river. This is a working winery.
Great location with excellent breakfast and very nice people managing hotel, made us fresh scrambled eggs and gave us name of an excellent dinner place called Douro Excellence ( amazing food )
Beautiful clean comfortable hotel. There is a view of the sanctuary in the distance. The people at the reception were exceptionally helpful and kind. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding.
Great blend of traditional and modern architecture. The new pool and spa have enhanced the hotel. Beautiful grounds. Staff so friendly and helpful. A real treasure in the Douro Valley!
6/4 is set is a nice location for being able to walk Lamego. The hosts for breakfast were quite lovely, and we enjoyed their homemade treats. The rooms are nicely decorated.
Nice hotel in central Lamego near castle, church and bus station. Comfy room and good shower with strong water pressure. Liked the little terrace the room had.
