Everything was great. The owners were very welcoming offering us a glass of sherry upon arrival and generously offering us extra food (fruit and crackers) to take when we were leaving. Very nice people.

Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
They did so much to insure our comfort, from stocking the refrigerator to providing an electric mattress pad (sheer bliss!). The bed and pillows were very comfortable and cozy. It is a lovely property with a beautiful view. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommended to anyone.

I wasn't there long enough to do as much exploring as I would have liked. The castle was very interesting wandering in and around there. If I had more time I would have liked to explore more of the town.

We went to see the Christmas lights.
We went to see the Christmas lights. The main street is beautiful. Also went to Vila de Natal. If you don't have children with you not really worth the price. Because we spent 2 night we had a day to walk around the outside of the walls also.

We were really looking forward to staying in the castle but the room we booked was actually in a building attached to the castle. We were not at all happy with our room which disappointed us but the town inside the walls of the castle was fun to walk around. The restaurant at the hotel was very good with great service. If we were to visit again, which we won't, we would avoid room 002 as it is a bit like a dungeon being the lowest room in the hotel.

Super quaint town worth making your way too.
Super quaint town worth making your way too. We stayed just under 20 hours and could have stayed at least one more day to enjoy the Castle and town more fully. Restaurant at Castle was amazing. We had dinner and breakfast. Both were memorable. Some tables have amazing views: be sure to ask for those. We took bus from Lisbon which drops you outside of steps into town. Don’t walk the long way around like we did. Steps bring you right onto the Main Street. Lots of cute shops and restaurants up and down street.
very difficult for foreign people, when you book through booking.com it does not warn you that there’s no one to talk to you and they won’t let you if you don’t pay €2 tax. the worst thing is they only accept a wire transfer from local bank. if you are not form Portugal, please don’t book here. it’s such a shame because it’s a beautiful place. we were able to stay because we ran into a Brazilian family that lives in Portugal and they helped us, paying and calling the owner. otherwise we would have lost our money
We immensely enjoyed our stay in this traditional house inside the city walls of Obidos. Rafael was a very enthusiastic host and was very eager to make our stay exceptional. He was proud to share the story of his grandfather’s house. The house was very clean and comfortable and the terraced patios were amazing! While we were there, we strolled in the village, walked the castle walls, enjoyed good food and watched the sunset from the swing behind the house with a glass of wine.
Casa Picva is a lovely restored property situated right beside the medieval castle walls. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, with beautiful antique furnishings scattered tastefully around the house. It also boasts a pretty panoramic terrace and garden. The owner Joao was wonderful - he kindly came to fetch us from the train station, sparing us a 20 minute hike with luggage. Absolute gem of Obidos, would definitely stay again if we have the chance.
As part of any Portugal or Spain trip it is a “must” to experience a pousada (or posada in Spain) stay at least once. We have done this several times before in Spain - this was our first Portugal experience. The facilities, ambience and sense of history and grandeur in these hotels is definitely an experience worth splurging for at least once per trip. The Obidos Castelo pousada was definitely right in line with that expectation.
It is a unique hotel. Very nice setting, with knights decor. For example, the door lock is 19th century style. Very clean, everything is of high quality. The location is in the heart of the old city. The breakfast is great, and so is the celtic quite music that provides a unique atmosphere. Indoor parking is also provided for free. So far, the best 4-star hotel in our 11 days Portugal trip.
Spacious apartment with backyard and easy access to the pool, tennis court, and billiard table. A nice quiet residence to land for our first few days in Portugal while we adjusted to the new timezone. While concerned about not having air conditioning we found the apartment to be quite cool once the windows were open and we were able to get good airflow.
Beautifully renovated apartment with a stupendous view of the castle, particularly at night. Our host was really kind and generous. He left some fruit, bread and other goodies for us. The apartment is minutes away from the castle and nice restaurants. Parking availability is a plus. We highly recommend this place to any travelers staying in Óbidos.
The convenience of being in the castle. The staff were helpful when I asked questions. The manager asked me for feedback about my stay, which I appreciated. The welcome was nice with little things in the room like water, wine , shampoo, shower gel etc all supplied.. and a welcome traditional obidos drink. The breakfast had a good selection.
The hotel was right on the main street inside the castle walls. Very convenient for walking around and enjoying the medieval sites. The staff (Vania)was very helpful and recommended very good restaurants. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was hearty. Coffee hot chocolate tea bread sweets juice meats cheeses we loved it
Everything was amazing! Our room with a castle inspired headboard to the elevated space with an enormous soaking tub was pure elegance! The village within the castle walls was lovely with many restaurants, bakeries and quaint shops. The hosts were extremely helpful and kind. Truly a magnificent experience! A must see.
Very clean and well appointed property in a great location. Thiago was the best host so far in Portugal and provided great recommendations for places to eat, things to see, and routes to take after our stay. Would very highly recommend making mood lodging - Óbidos part of your stay, you won’t be disappointed!
Location inside ancient castle walls is awesome and unique. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom tiny, understandably. Would have been nice to have at least a paper cup in the room. Good communication emails for getting key, parking, instructions. Glad we had this opportunity. Really enjoyed Obidos.
Really beautiful historic hotel, perfect for book lovers. Incredibly close to the historic centre of Obidos and great restaurants and bars. The perfect spot to explore Obidos and then head back for a perfect cosy night resting or reading. The whole place felt very cosy and intimate
Easy access to Óbidos old town. we would recommend this hotel for only short visit while targeting to do sightseeing of Óbidos historic sites and around town. The pool is good for after site visit for chilling down and a quick rest before contributing the Centro Area in Portugal
Great Location literally next door to the old town / castle entrance, and room with a view over the town and valley. And the room was spacious and clean, despite having a very 'rustic' look as one would expect in such an old part of town.
The views and the location
The town of Obidos is beautiful and the hotel is centrally located with nice views of the castle. It is an old house and I recognize the effort to preserve it with many original touches. Breakfast was normal.
A small but beautifully presented property. The bedroom was quiet and very comfortable, and there was enough space in the living room for two teenage children. Excellent location within the walls of Obidos old town.
Really nice space for 2 people, cleverly planned space indoors and outside, with nice views. Easy access and in a great location for seeing Óbidos and surroundings. Parking was safe and easy.
Beautiful house in a great location. Walking distance to Obidos Castle as well as supermarkets. Information for check in was perfect and made it very easy and stress free
