Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful location with views over Monchique mountains. It has had some famous visitors.Went for the views and also to try the famous Black pork, expecting the tenderest of meat, but sadly not quite up to my expectations.

We were recommended this restaurant by the family. It was a bit of a trek from Tavira but with a damp forecast we booked and made the trip. The views here are spectacular but the food is the star. The ingredients used are of the...highest quality and served in very traditional ways. The lamb and the roast pork were particularly good. The roast potatoes a gift from above. The wine list is well chosen and reasonably priced. Add this to great service from Sandra and the others and you have an exceptional restaurant. Probably one of the best in the Algarve. Looking forward to our next visit.More

Bear in mind this was late Feb, and we were still amongst the last to get a lunch table at 12:45… warmly welcomed by helpful energetic staff - the place was busy. Lots of interesting menu options, many carefully grilled over coals by a couple...of chefs barely visible in the smoke, in their dedicated BBQ area just outside the dining room. Several quite rustic Portuguese options we hadn’t come across before. Portions are generous and we agree earlier comments about the offered appetisers. This is the place to go if you are in Monchique, not just for the magnificent view but for quality food. Oh and the banoffee pie was delicious.More

Beautifully positioned, an excellent rustic menu and generous portions. Good attentive service. No need to have the cover charge offerings as they will fill you up. Good choice of wine. My friend had the lamb stew which he said was 5 star. Need to book.

we thoroughly enjoyed superb grilled meats at this restaurant on the way back down from our visit to the Monchique mountains. chicken kebab was amazing as we're the lamb chops - very generous portions, perfectly cooked and including wine a very reasonable price. we had...not pre booked and all the view tables were reserved (this on a Monday lunchtime in January!) but they squeezed us in on the terrace which was delightful. excellent food and service, thank youMore

Nearest restaurant to our hotel and we went 4 times in 6 days as it was so good . They even squeezed us in on a very busy Sunday lunch ! Great choice on the menu and lots of authentic Portugese dishes which were explained...to us patiently. Some dishes a bit oily but if you choose different sides you can avoid that . Staff very friendly and views in the daytime stunning 🤗More

Discovered a unique place, mountainside with unique atmosphere and beautiful countryside views. The food was great, a huge spread of olives, meats, & cheeses to start with. I ordered the seafood stew, and it was superb! I also had to try the quail eggs which...nestled in some tasty *mexican meat*, this was a lighter meal but was filling. Of course the dessert options lured us in, and I missed a picture of our *black powder* ice cream before it was gone. Chocolately taste, and good portion to share with another person.More

Recommendation from a friend who is in the restauranteur in the Algarve. We can attest to why he recommended. We made reservations and we’re glad we did. We sat early for lunch about noon. By the time we finished, people were lined up outside. Outstanding...food. Kind, very attentive service. We ordered lamb and veal. I’ve never tasted lamb that good. Oven cooked and melting off the bone. And the views from the deck, back toward the ocean off the mountain are stunning. Great lunch or dinner destination on a visit to the top of Foia. We’ll be going back.More

I am so glad we reserved a table en route, as the terrace with the amazing views was already full when we arrived. There is an extensive menu and after considerable deliberation, we settled on the rack of lamb, and wild boar and plum stew....Both were delicious as were the desserts - carob and fig tart and tarte da nata. We look forward to eating here again.More

We have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. We absolutely love it. On our most recent visit we took our 2 month old toddler and our new born. They are always so hospitable and fantastic at entertaining the children. Although no...dedicated children’s menu, they always sort something very good out for the children. We will continue to come here and enjoy the food and wine.More

The restaurant sits looking over the hills to the sea which makes it very popular. It attracts and caters for I presume mainly for tourists and has a very slick operation. You are offered cheese and ham on plates straight away rather than the traditional...cover which is rather pushy. The spare ribs were good but the Piri Piri chicken was poor with some scrawny pieces and the blandest sauce ever tasted. Wines by the glass were good as was the fig and carob dessert. Much prefer the nearby Jardim d’Oliveras which is more genuine but was closed on this Wednesday.More
